A Recap Of DFC 19

Text Book Chokes, KO’s And Absolute Battles

On Sunday, March 3rd, we were treated to yet another remarkable night of performances at DFC 19, held at the iconic Adelaide Oval. Why do we love the DFC? We're all about helping bridge the gap between sub elite and elite at Xpeed, and DFC serves as a platform for both emerging and established fighters to showcase their skills in the cage. Over the last several years the Diamondback Fighting Championship has earned a reputation as one of the leading MMA organisations in the region, attracting fighters and fans from around the world.

Like us, we're sure you're still buzzing from the weekend. So this week we caught up with Craig Icke, founder of DFC, to get his insights on the highlights of the event and what's in store for DFC 20. Let's dive right in!

A WORD WITH CRAIG ICKE

Q). Craig, congrats another successful DFC event with DFC 19. What were some of your highlights from Sundays event?

A). Firstly the crowd! DFC’s Adelaide Fight Fans are seriously awesome! The energy & volume in the room is second to none & they really know their MMA too. I’ve been to a lot of shows across the country & I can honestly say our fans are the best. They get behind all the fighters, even if it’s not a fighter they know personally, which is kind of rare on the regional circuit.

The other thing that stood out was the talent. Fighters from all gyms have really evolved into such fantastic all-round Martial Artists, the skill sets were just insanely good! We saw text book chokes, KO’s, back & forth battles & just some incredible contests! Every fighter & gym can hold their head high!

Q). What can people expect for DFC 20?

A). Good question! I’m already working on a couple of really big fights. After losing three really highly anticipated fights in the final days leading into this card I’m focused on matching an equally strong card for July 7th. I hope to have a couple of big announcements asap!

Q). Finally, we funked it up a little and customised the the gloves at DFC 19... Which glove did you prefer? The new K1 colours, the MMA teal or the MMA yellow?

A).Oooh, that’s a tough question! I loved them all, they really stood out & looked the goods! I gotta say I really loved the white boxing gloves Michael Curry had on during his absolute war with Sadiq Asifi! They were cool, but yeah, all the new colours were awesome & big thanks to Xpeed & your whole team for supporting Diamondback FC!

Conclusion

That's a wrap for our quick Q&A with Craig, but stay tuned for more updates on DFC 20 and beyond. As always, we're grateful for the support of the Adelaide Fight Community, and we can't wait to see you at the next Diamondback FC event! Also, a big thanks to everyone who nominated their gym to win our $1000 gym pack, the winner on the night was Element Barossa, nominated by Shaun Stephens.

Until next time, keep building a better fighter!
